I have lived here for the majority of my life, and am a proud, hard-working, blue-collar citizen. I have worked since I was 16 years old, will continue until I am 75, and will leave this world slightly less poor than when I entered it. Our small town has a large economic divide, with a very small (but very influential) rich, entitled, side and, of course, the flip side is just poor. We have 100's of factories here where one can work and make slightly above minimum wage. Drugs are EVERYWHERE. And no church ladies are here to help the community like has been suggested. They are too busy gossiping and judging those less fortunate than them to help in any real way. God forbid someone get in the system, because you are never getting out and targeted from that point on. We have a large homeless population, nowhere to put them.. the system is full of children who's parents are either on drugs and can't get them back, in jail, or just don't want them. There is no help, no escape, no hope.

I have lived here for nearly all of my life. It is a cute mid size to little town that keeps growing. Most of the interactions I have had with the others that live here has been quite good. Most are very friendly and want to talk. Recently, our town has built a chick fil a, cheezy petes, and other restaurants and businesses to keep the town folk engaged. It is very exciting to see all of this growth.

I have lived here for 27 years and enjoy it because it is a quiet and small town. You know everybody and know everything. I like it because even though there isn't a whole lot to offer, there is still something for everyone. I can afford to live here, it isn't a big city and the crime rate here is not too high either. The people here are average and there are so many places to go and enjoy including all of my favorites that are in the mountains and water sites.

Greeneville is a very old American town; home of President Andrew Johnson and so there is a lot of history to be found here. Bordering the Appalachian National Forest, there are many wonderful views found throughout the town and many places you can be completely submerged in nature; from peaceful valleys, to abundant forests, to rugged mountain terrains, to river fronts and singing mountain creeks. Housing costs are low and there are decent paying manufacturing jobs readily available. The potential is incredible. That said, it currently stands as just that; potential.
When it comes to the society in Greeneville, that's where things become trickier. The local government seems to want to 'preserve' the town by continuously halting growth. Thus may or may not feed into the extremely terrible drug issue here which in turn feeds into a common crime issue. The town remaining so small and limited also requires travels for pretty much everything. Change needs to start from within.

I was born here & have lived here almost my entire life. Its a large town but mostly country. The mountains are beautiful. But its not the right place to raise kids. There is nothing for them to do except sports throughout school. Jobs are very hard to get and not alot of them. There isnt alot of opportunities here. More of a retirement town. So if ur looking for a life of nothing to do but ride through the mountains grocery store & Wal-Mart Greeneville is the place for you.

I have lived in many states and many different cities within those states. I have seen small towns barely able to get by, and I have seen some small towns provide an environment of home and peace. Greeneville, TN has an overall aroma of peace and unity. Every single individual you meet is smiling with a caring nature to their presence. From hospital employees to middle school teachers to Walmart cashiers, they all carry themselves with confidence and ease that shows me how great a town can thrive when all the citizens are open to newcomers, are open to new experiences, and are closed off to hateful words and actions. I could see myself staying here long term.

Greeneville is nice. I like that it isn't overpopulated. The town would be a lot nicer if some of the empty buildings in the historic downtown were renovated, or at least occupied. The city continues to expand, while so many buildings are just sitting around not being used. The scenery and views of the mountains are breathtaking in some areas. People in Greeneville are friendly, for the most part. There is a wide Christian community that offers an abundance of help for ones in need. There aren't very many jobs to be found here, but due to expansion, business continue to open proving new jobs every year.

Greeneville is a small town, but has amazing schools and a community. The town is growing and expanding. The town would be better if it had more activities for younger people to do. Overall, Greeneville is a safe area and great place to grow up at.

Greeneville is a small town. There is so much beauty throughout greene co that it's breath taking. In the falls the mountains looks like a bowl of fruity pebbles. THey are creeks and rivers to float down. The people are always there to lend a helping hand in time of need. When tornado's swept thru and made a lot of people homeless everyone pitched in with the clean up, gathered food and clothings, and even rebuilt some homes for the people. If your looking for a place to call home, and like to feel the mountain air where the people are friendly then make Greeneville your hometown.

Id lived in the surrounding areas for 8 years now. Overall, its an affordable rural/suburban community surrounded by beautiful mountainside. There plenty of jobs and a great place to settle down and raise children. However, it could have more activities and places to do for fun.

Overall good place to live. City & County Government is somewhat non-progressive. A very few really good restaurants, most are mediocre at best. Not a great lot for people to do. Elected officials cater to a select few in community, operate on the "good old boy" principle. City and County schools are very good. Most young people move due to a lack of good paying jobs. I am a lifelong resident.

I despise Greeneville, Tn. It is almost like time travelling into the past. There are more closed minded people than not. This is not even to mention that it has one of the most corrupt judicial systems in the state. Although the people of the community tend to be very friendly and helpful, the restrictions on life there are absurd.

Greeneville is a beautiful town in rural east Tennessee. If you are an outdoor enthusiast, then this town is right for you. The Appalachian mountains are right at your doorstep. There is also an abundance of lakes and rivers in the area. The schools are great, and Greeneville High is a cut above most schools in the area. Your never more than a 45 minute drive from larger cities, such as Knoxville, Morristown, Kingsport, and more. It isn't without its drawbacks though. The drug presence in the area is considerable, and it lacks in diversity. All in all though, its a great town to live.
